Advanced Idea Mechanics is a scientific research and development agency founded by Aldrich Killian. After Killian's illegal actions, A.I.M. was put under complete government control. However, most of its research was considered too dangerous for humanity to control, so "SHIELD" took control over its research. One of A.I.M.'s recent products, MODOK, took control of A.I.M. after his science experiment went wrong. M.O.D.O.K. later formed an alliance with the terrorist organization HYDRA in exchange for funds and world conquest. A few years later, A.I.M., Hammer Industries, and Oscorp Industries merged resources and became business partners.
